Master’s program at the Faculty of Law, University of Zenica, is organized with the aim of educating legal professionals with high levels of expertise (Master of Law) whose competences can be further deepened and developed through advanced academic skills. The program is designed to provide specialization and refinement for current legal professionals and potential candidates, enabling them to excel in various areas within the government, industry, judiciary, and other sectors. Its programmatic concept offers numerous specialized directions and in-depth knowledge essential for successful execution of specific tasks and functions.
A candidate who attains the academic title of Master of Law is equipped to engage in independent scientific research, present their knowledge, and transmit it to both specialized and non-specialized audiences.
The Master’s program lasts for one year, which is equivalent to two semesters. The curriculum of the Master’s program primarily focuses on scientific research, emphasizing the exploration of the function and significance of contemporary trends in the field of law and legal sciences. Priority is given to Master’s theses that investigate and illuminate specific aspects or particular issues related to these trends, providing necessary insights for practical legal, social, and political-economic solutions.”
The program is conducted according to the curriculum and syllabus which, conceptually and in terms of content, methods, and forms of implementation, enable candidates to earn the right to be awarded the academic title and professional qualification of Master of Law with 60 ECTS credits.
Classes are held in the afternoon and on weekends to ensure that candidates who are employed full-time can participate in the teaching process. Instruction and course requirements are delivered through lectures, seminars, practical exercises, consultations, as well as individual or collaborative scientific research work.

Master’s Thesis
Students in the second cycle – Master’s program at the Faculty of Law, University of Zenica, are required to defend a project before attending classes in the second semester. This project should be closely related to the future topic of their Master’s thesis in accordance with point 4.2 of the Curriculum and Program of Study for the Master’s Program at the Faculty of Law, University of Zenica.
The project should be developed around a clear concept and in accordance with accepted standards of scientific research. The project is presented before the department responsible for the respective field, after which the department decides on additional mandatory subjects that the candidate will attend in the second semester of the program. The aim of presenting the project is to ensure quality standards, achieve an appropriate level of complexity and topic realization, depth of scientific research, suitable concept and style of the Master’s thesis, as well as an ethical and academically acceptable way of citing, as determined by Articles 2 to 9 of the Regulations on the Preparation of Master’s Theses at the Faculty of Law, University of Zenica.
A successful presentation is a prerequisite for submitting a topic for the Master’s thesis, which is submitted in writing following the procedure outlined in the Curriculum and Program of Study for the Master’s program, after the student completes the requirements specified for the first semester of study. The Master’s thesis should meet the necessary requirements in terms of form and, most importantly, content, in the sense of the topicality of the issue under investigation and how specific research methods will be used to achieve the research objectives, ultimately yielding theoretically and practically acceptable results.
