On April 13, 2022, a simulation of a trial before the European Court of Human Rights was held at the Faculty of Law, as part of the closing ceremony of the Environmental Law Legal Clinic project. The project was implemented by ELSA Zenica in collaboration with the Faculty of Law and with the financial support of the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Transport and Communications, and Environmental Protection of Zenica-Doboj Canton and Vispak d.d. Visoko.
The introductory part of the ceremony featured speeches by Prof. Dr. Enes Bikić, Vice-Rector for Teaching and Student Affairs at the University of Zenica, Prof. Dr. Aida Mulalić, Vice Dean for Teaching and Student Affairs at the Faculty of Law in Zenica, Aida Rihić, a fourth-year student and president of ELSA Zenica, and Mr. Iur. Lejla Zilić-Čurić, a senior assistant and project leader. The academic event was moderated by our assistant Ajša Luković.
In the central part of the ceremony, participants in the Legal Clinic, Hana Kulović, Mirela Kobo, Elmir Smriko, and Sedina Karić, conducted a simulation of a trial before the European Court of Human Rights based on a hypothetical case addressing human rights violations due to adverse environmental factors resulting from hydro pollution. The team representing the respondents won the simulation, and Hana Kulović received the award for the best speaker.
In the closing part of the ceremony, awards were presented to students, certificates of participation were given to Legal Clinic participants, and thanks were extended. We are especially pleased to have hosted graduates from the First Gymnasium in Zenica and the Mixed High School in Zenica at this academic event.
