As part of the promotional activities of our Faculty, and with the aim of preserving the memory of the victims of the crime that occurred on this day in Ahmići, we organized a public lecture today on the topic: “Crimes in the Lašva Valley and the Shelling of Zenica in the Practice of the ICTY – Prosecutor v. Tihomir Blaškić.”
The public lecture was organized within the framework of exercises for the course International Criminal Law, and was attended by senior students from the Second Gymnasium in Zenica, senior students from the Mixed Secondary School in Zenica, third-year students of the Faculty of Law in Zenica, fourth-year students of the Islamic Pedagogical Faculty in Zenica, as well as members of the interested public.
In his opening remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Law and course instructor for International Criminal Law, Prof. Dr. Enis Omerović, addressed those present, emphasizing the importance of preserving a culture of remembrance, as well as the role of education as a mechanism for safeguarding judicially established facts.
The public lecture was delivered by Senior Teaching Assistant, LL.M., Lejla Zilić-Čurić. During the lecture, attendees had the opportunity to become acquainted with the factual and legal aspects of the crimes committed in the Lašva Valley, with particular focus on the attack on Ahmići on April 16, 1993, and the shelling of Zenica carried out on April 19, 1993.
